Benefits of Massage Therapy
Massage is beneficial not only for relaxation, but it also has many benefits for athletes who are attempting to realize athletic potential and performance. Massage helps with the following

•     Increased blood and lymph circulation:

The movement of blood and lymph may help clear the body and the tissues of metabolic waste products thereby increasing the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the tissues.

•     Muscle Relaxation:

Massage helps relieve muscle spasms and cramps.

•     Adhesion Removal:

Adhesions exist when two tissues are joined together by scar tissue due to an injury or trauma.  Adhesions do not allow for fluid or independent muscle movement.  Massage helps break down these adhesions.

•     Fibrosis Alleviation:

Fibrosis is formation of excessive or abnormal scar tissue following an injury or trauma.  Again, massage helps break down this fibrosis.

•     Pain Relief:

Massage, of course, helps relieve pain from muscles spasm and cramps.

•     Increase Joint Mobility:

Massage, especially deep tissue, helps increase the length of the muscle by stretching its fibers which cross that joint thereby helping to reduce flexibility imbalances.

•     Quick Recovery:

Massage decreases the recovery time by helping to flush the lactic acid produced while performing at lactic threshold and super lactic threshold intensities.
